It's been over a decade since the last Grand Theft Auto game came out so the Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023 trailer release date for GTA 6 was a big deal.
That is, until an anonymous leaker dropped the trailer on Elon Musk's X, formerly known as Twitter, a day early.
Being that the leaked trailer was making its way across the internet, Rockstar Games clearly felt forcedto release their own official version of the GTA 6 trailer early. It's now available to viewon YouTube.

X account @Gta6trailerleak was seemingly set up specifically for one purpose: Leak the GTA 6 trailer. The video wasn't up for long, based on screenshots floating around. It appears X suspendedthe account no more than one hour after it posted the leaked trailer.
According to The Verge's Tom Warren, Rockstar made their official trailer public around 10 minutesafter X suspended the leaked video uploader.

The leaked video, which we now know was legitimate, had a "BUY $BTC" watermarkoverlaid over the entire clip.

Musk's X is no stranger to leaks, piracy, and copyrighted content being posted. Ever since X rolled out extended-length video uploads for paying X Premium subscribers, users have been posting full-length feature filmsto the platform, obviously without permission from the copyright holder.
X CEO Linda Yaccarino boastedon Friday about how many views Rockstar's GTA 6 post hyping up the Tuesday release date received on the platform.

"90+ million views in under 12hrs," Yaccarino posted. "See you Tuesday!"
But, thanks to the leaker, GTA 6 fans don't have to wait until Tuesday.
