Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has been hospitalized after suffering from a minor stroke, according to a report from ABC News.
Through initial reports, it was unclear exactly why Wozniak was hospitalized. However, on Thursday afternoon, Wozniak provided an update on his condition to ABC News via text message. According to Wozniak, he had felt dizzy earlier in the day while on the computer, started experiencing vertigo, and was unable to walk.
At the time on Wednesday, Wozniak was originally scheduled to speak in Mexico City, said a CNNsource involved with organizing the World Business Forum event.
During the hospital visit in Mexico City, an MRI showed that Wozniak had suffered from a "minor but real stroke." Wozniak also shared that he has since been released from the hospital and is now on way back home.
Wozniak's update confirms numerous stories that outlets had reported as the news of his hospitalization first broke.
According to a TMZarticle, a source had informed the website that the 73-year-old Apple co-founder told his wife that he was "feeling strange" and then began showing concerning symptoms which prompted the trip to the hospital.
TMZ reported that Wozniak could have been experiencing vertigo, but tests were still being performed. Shortly after, Spanish-language outlets began reportingthat Wozniak suffered a stroke. However, there had yet to be a confirmation from Wozniak or his representatives until the ABC News report on Thursday.
Steve Wozniak, also known by Apple fans as "Woz," founded the company alongside Steve Jobes in 1976. In recent years, Wozniak has continued to travel, speaking at events and advocating technology and entrepreneurial efforts around the world.
UPDATE: Nov. 9, 2023, 3:13 p.m. EST Mashable has since updated this story with information regarding why Wozniak was hospitalized and his current condition, which had just recently been confirmed by ABC News.
